AI Toolkit Pro Documentation

Install the plugin, connect OpenAI or Anthropic Claude, choose your modules, add AI tools to WordPress and understand how the free and Pro features work.

Getting Started

AI Toolkit Pro 4.1.0 is a modular WordPress AI plugin. After activation, a five-step setup wizard helps you connect an AI provider, choose enabled features, optionally activate a Pro license and see the shortcodes available for front-end tools.

1

Install and activate

Upload the AI Toolkit Pro ZIP through WordPress Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, then activate it.

2

Run the Setup Wizard

A normal single-plugin activation opens the five-step wizard automatically. You can also reopen it later from the AI Toolkit dashboard.

3

Connect an AI provider

Choose OpenAI or Anthropic Claude, enter the appropriate API key and use the built-in Test API Key check.

4

Choose your modules

Enable the tools your site needs. You can change these choices later in AI Toolkit → Module Manager.

5

Add workspaces where needed

Use the provided shortcodes on WordPress pages for supported front-end tools, while admin-only tools remain available from the AI Toolkit menu.

Nothing in the wizard is permanent. Provider settings, enabled modules and licensing can all be changed later.

Connect OpenAI or Anthropic Claude

Go to AI Toolkit → Settings → AI Provider. AI Toolkit Pro can store credentials and model selections for both OpenAI and Anthropic at the same time. Changing the active provider does not require you to re-enter the other provider’s saved key.

OpenAI

Select OpenAI as the active provider, enter your OpenAI API key, choose the available model setting and test the connection before using the AI tools.

Anthropic Claude

Select Anthropic as the active provider, enter your Anthropic API key, choose the available model setting and test the connection.

One active provider powers the toolkit. Writer, Translation, Chat Assistant, Moderation, Blog Writer and AI Pro Tools automatically use whichever provider is currently selected.
API billing is separate. Your AI Toolkit Pro license does not include OpenAI or Anthropic API usage. You use your own provider account and API credentials.

Module Manager

Open AI Toolkit → Module Manager to see registered modules, their shortcodes where applicable, whether they are actually running, and an on/off control.

AI Pro Tools contains several sub-features—such as SEO Studio, Image Studio, Reply Generator, Prompt Library and Dating Profile Builder—that share the underlying AI Pro Tools module rather than operating as completely independent modules.

Provider setup belongs in Settings. The Module Manager controls which features are enabled; it does not store your API keys or license.

AI Writer

The AI Writer rewrites rough notes into polished copy such as bios, listings and blurbs. Its front-end shortcode is:

[aitk_writer]

AI Writer generation is part of the always-free, unlimited group in version 4.1.0.

AI Blog Writer

The Blog Writer is available from AI Toolkit → Blog Writer. It generates complete article drafts from a topic and supports three length presets: approximately 800 words, 1,200 words or 1,800 words.

The workspace includes a Target Keyword field, Additional Context, and actions to copy HTML, copy text or create a WordPress draft.

Free generation: You can generate and regenerate without using a save allowance. Creating a WordPress draft is the committed action that counts toward the free save limit.

Batch Content Pipeline

Open AI Toolkit → Batch Content to submit multiple article topics. Enter one topic per line, optionally including a keyword and tone. AI Toolkit Pro processes a few items at a time in the background using WP-Cron instead of requiring you to keep one long browser request open.

  • Up to 50 topics can be submitted in one batch.
  • The pipeline reuses the Blog Writer generation logic.
  • Free users receive full generated previews.
  • With Pro, generated results can become WordPress draft posts.

Internal Linking Assistant

The Internal Linking Assistant appears in the post editor sidebar in both the Block Editor and Classic Editor. It compares the current post with published posts using each post’s anchor keywords; if those keywords are empty, the published post title is used as the fallback.

In the Block Editor, suggestions are presented for review and nothing is inserted until you approve a match. The plugin uses the editor’s own block data layer to preserve block serialization.

Scanning is free and unlimited. Applying an approved internal-link suggestion is a Pro action.

Chat Assistant

The conversational AI Assistant can be placed on a page with:

[aitk_assistant]

The widget defaults to the site’s own name rather than agency branding. On the free tier, the Chat Assistant allows 20 messages per day site-wide. Pro removes that plugin-level message limit.

A failed provider/API request does not consume one of the daily free messages; usage is recorded only after a successful AI call.

AI Content Moderation

When enabled, the moderation module hooks into WordPress comments and uses AI classification to screen new comments for scam or abusive-content patterns.

Moderation is always free and unlimited in the current 4.1.0 feature model.

AI Pro Tools

AI Pro Tools provides a combined admin workspace plus individual front-end shortcodes. The suite includes general writing tools along with SEO Studio, Reply Generator, Image Studio, Dating Profile Builder and Prompt Library.

Generation and regeneration are free. In the admin workspace, explicitly saving a generated result is the action that uses a free save allowance. Saved results are available later in AI Toolkit → History.

Free save buckets

  • Reply Generator: first 3 saves free.
  • SEO Studio: first 3 saves free.
  • Image Studio: first 3 saves free.
  • Dating Profile Builder: first 3 saves free.
  • General writing tools share a separate 3-save free bucket.
  • Prompt Library remains always free and unlimited.

AI Image Studio

Image Studio is part of the shared AI Pro Tools service. Open AI Toolkit → AI Pro Tools and select Image Studio, or place its dedicated front-end shortcode on a WordPress page:

[aitk_image_prompt]

Rather than producing only a basic image idea, Image Studio 4.1.0 creates a complete WordPress image publishing package from your subject and style instructions.

  • AI image prompt
  • Negative prompt
  • SEO-friendly image filename
  • Alt text and image title
  • Caption and WordPress Media Library description
  • SEO keywords
  • Open Graph image title and description
  • Social post text
Free usage: Generate and regenerate Image Studio results without limit. The first 3 saved Image Studio prompts are free; Pro removes the save limit.
Module setting: Image Studio shares the AI Pro Tools module toggle with SEO Studio, Reply Generator, Prompt Library and Dating Profile Builder. It is shown as a sub-feature rather than a separate independent service switch.

Role Permissions

AI Toolkit → Role Permissions lets an administrator delegate AI workspaces to roles such as Editor, Author or a custom staff role without giving those users full Administrator access.

Delegation applies to AI Writer, AI Blog Writer and AI Pro Tools. Administrators always retain full access.

Administrator-only areas remain protected: Settings, License/Upgrade, Module Manager, History and Analytics are intentionally not delegated because they can expose API credentials, billing controls or other users’ usage information.

History & Analytics

History

Saved AI Pro Tools results can be revisited under AI Toolkit → History, including the tool used, input, output and timestamp. Entries can be favorited, deleted individually or cleared in bulk by module.

Front-end shortcode usage by public visitors is not stored in History.

Analytics

AI Toolkit → Analytics tracks usage metadata across AI features, including module, surface, day, response time, success rate and recent errors.

Analytics stores metadata such as call counts, timing and character counts—not the actual prompt or generated content. Analytics records are automatically pruned after 90 days.

Free vs Pro in Version 4.1.0

The current freemium model does not lock generation behind Pro. Every feature can be tried on the free tier; Pro primarily removes limits that apply when you save, apply, publish or continue beyond a free message allowance.

Plugin Updates

AI Toolkit Pro includes a self-hosted updater that integrates with WordPress’s normal Plugins update interface. When a new version is available, WordPress can show the normal update notice and version-details experience.

The update-available notice can appear regardless of license status; the licensed download is served to sites with an active qualifying license.

Troubleshooting

The AI tool is not generating anything. What should I check?

Open AI Toolkit → Settings, confirm the intended provider is selected, verify the corresponding API key is saved, and run the built-in API-key test. Also confirm the required module is enabled in Module Manager.

I changed from OpenAI to Claude. Do I need to configure every feature again?

No. Features automatically use the currently selected provider. Both providers’ credentials can remain saved while you switch between them.

Why can I generate but not save, publish or apply something?

Version 4.1.0 uses a freemium commit-action model. Generation is broadly free, while selected save/apply/publish actions have free quotas or require Pro after those quotas are exhausted.

Why does a staff member not see Settings or Analytics?

Role Permissions delegates selected AI workspaces, not administrative controls. Settings, licensing, Module Manager, History and Analytics intentionally remain Administrator-only.

Where can I see my remaining free allowance?

Open AI Toolkit → Upgrade. The plugin displays current status and remaining quota cards for limited features.

Where should I ask for help or report a bug?

Use the AI Toolkit Pro Discussions area for community questions and troubleshooting. For a reproducible bug, include what you were doing, what you expected, what happened, and relevant WordPress/PHP details.
